Parnell Heritage Talk: Chinese Laundries in Aotearoa

October 24, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Chinese laundries first opened in the 1880s and were an integral part of New Zealand’s social fabric until at least the 1950s.  Join historian Joanna Boileau for a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Chinese laundreymen and women.  Joanna’s book Starch Work by Experts is published by the Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust and will be available for purchase on the night.

Drinks and nibbles will be served.  Koha appreciated – proceeds to Parnell Heritage Inc.
